The FEM International Workshop is a highly focused biannual event providing an ideal meeting place for researchers who are active in either the theoretical and numerical development of finite element and hybrid methods or their application to a broad range of electromagnetic problems. The technical program will combine invited and contributed papers in both specially organized and regular sessions. Please note that there is a limit of two papers submitted per conference registration.

Scope: Technical areas covered by the workshop include, but are not limited to:
  • Adaptive Methods
  • Advanced FEM Techniques Formulations, Solvers, Discrete Representations
  • Optimization Techniques, Parameter Space Sweep
  • Time Domain FEM Theory and Applications
  • Mathematical Aspects of FEM
  • FEM Applications: Antennas, Materials and Meta-materials, Bio-Electromagnetics, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Circuits and Circuit Boards
  • Hybrid Methods - Theory and Applications: FE-BI/FDTD, FE-FV/Circuit Simulators/High-Frequency Techniques, Coupled Physics FEM for RF-MEMS
  • FEM Modeling:  Waveguides, Components, Active Devices, Lumped Elements
  • Multigrid and Domain Decomposition Methods
  • CAD / Meshing Advances and Tools
  • Design Using FEM and Hybrid Techniques
  • FEM Applications in Other Disciplines

Instructions for authors (for formatting the abstract)
FEM2012 contributions are in the form of an abstract of at least 250 words, limited to one page, including figures. The language of the workshop is English. Submissions are electronic, in a PDF format, online -- via this website. The following templates can be used for preparation of abstracts:

The workshop will be held in The Stanley Hotel, http://www.stanleyhotel.com, a historic landmark hotel in a spectacular mountain-view location, located at an elevation of 7,500 feet (2,286 meters) and within sight of the Rocky Mountain National Park, http://www.nps.gov/romo, http://www.rmnp.com (bus tour of the park is included in the workshop package). It inspired Stephen King to write The Shining, and served as a location site for several movies (Stanley Hotel Ghost & History Tour included). We were able to obtain a very good deal for the rooms for workshop participants ($179 per room, per night). Estes Park, http://www.estesparkcvb.com, an hour from Fort Collins or Boulder, and hour and a half from Denver International Airport (shuttle included), is one of the most beautiful resort towns in the US, with numerous galleries, shops, and restaurants, along with majestic nature and abundant wildlife. We have prepared great conference amenities and are working on a wonderful social program, and, most importantly, on an outstanding technical program of the conference -- First Call for Papers.
