Formula SAE (FSAE) is a student design competition sponsored by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in which students design, manufacture and compete in a formula-style race car. FSAE is not only the largest annual engineering competition, but also the largest international intercollegiate competition in the world. Since its creation in 1978 as “SAE Mini-Indy” the competition has attracted some of the best engineering students from around the world. Ram Racing, Colorado State University’s FSAE team, joins 500 teams from around the world in competition. Six competitions are hosted each year, two of which are held in the United States, FSAE Michigan and FSAE West (hosted in Brooklyn, MI and Lincoln, NE respectively).
